After 16 years, BIGBANG’s Daesung is parting ways with YG Entertainment.
On December 26, amidst news that Taeyang had signed with THEBLACKLABEL following the expiration of his contract with YG Entertainment, the agency initially stated that they were still discussing the possibility of contract renewals with his bandmates G-Dragon and Daesung.
However, later that same day, YG Entertainment went on to announce, “Daesung has decided to end his contract with us.” They also elaborated, “He’s looking for a fresh start.”
Just like with Taeyang, YG Entertainment emphasized that while Daesung was leaving the agency, he was not leaving BIGBANG.
“The fact that Daesung is a BIGBANG member has not changed,” stated the agency. “We support Daesung’s choice and new start, and we are always open to cooperating with him.”
As for G-Dragon, YG Entertainment commented, “We are still in the midst of contract negotiations.”
Meanwhile, T.O.P left YG Entertainment following the expiration of his contract earlier this year.

THEBLACKLABEL will provide our full support for Taeyang to carry out diverse musical activities more actively.
Please look forward to the musical synergy that [Taeyang] will achieve with THEBLACKLABEL.
Thank you.
YG Entertainment also shared the news and clarified, “There is no change in the fact that Taeyang is a BIGBANG member and part of the YG Family. We know that many are waiting for BIGBANG’s activities, so we will work together for this.”
Also in response to reports that G-Dragon will remain at YG Entertainment, the company commented, “We are currently under discussion with the other members regarding their contracts and future activities.”
